Kiki Farish, raised in Jacksonville, FL is the youngest of four. Farish was impacted by the climate of the 1960s, dog tags in elementary school & bra burnings. Kiki speaks visually, seeing history repeating itself with awareness of patriarchal constructs. Her work demonstrates how visual language is a practical tool for influence - not just some esoteric, arty thing in a studio.
Farish's work shows up in permanent collections; the Ackland Art Museum, municipal art collections, and corporations. Farish received the 2014-15 NC Arts Council Fellowship & was awarded national artist residencies. Farish speaks & exhibits throughout the south in museums, art centers & higher education, including the NC Museum of Art, Raleigh & Winston-Salem. Farish received her BS degree in Applied Mathematics from Meredith College in Raleigh & her Master of Fine Arts degree in Painting & Drawing from ECU in Greenville.
Kiki lives on her NC ancestral home, Oakforest, circa 1807. She culls wood piles, out-buildings, attics, sorting & preserving generations of possible useful items. This curation feeds her studio practice & readies her voice. A new body of work supported by United Arts Wake County including the exhibition of ten paintings with artifacts from Oakforest will be completed in 2026.
