I started in 2017 using the vulva as source material because it is a prime example of the disparity of knowledge about women. Draw a penis, sure, but not a vulva -we don’t know how. There is power in naming. Using the word “vagina,” when “vulva” is what we really mean, erases the body part that brings women the most pleasure and focuses on the female body part that brings men the most pleasure. Do we know enough about the female body to control it through legislation?
